This year, 2017, is Medford Lakes Education Foundation year to THRIVE. My name is Sue

Wingert and I am honored to be your new MLEF President. Lisa Blanchard, deserves our

countless gratitude for all she and her board have provided for our schools over her two year

presidency. Her dedication helped our organization fundraise to purchase numerous iPads and

ChromeBooks for our district amongst too many other attributes to mention. All of MLEF thanks

you, Lisa, for your relentless hard work.

For the last six years I have served on our district’s Board of Education. During this tenure, I

saw first hand the advantage of having an education foundation. Increasing costs, budget cuts

and emerging technology make MLEF a necessity for our students to remain competitive with

larger districts with higher school budgets. I chose not to continue on the Board of Education as

I felt I could better use the knowledge I gained over the 6 years to help our foundation grow.

The first item on our agenda is to hold a membership drive. We are in desperate need of

volunteers to help this organization be the best it can be for our children. Your volunteerism can

help all of our children succeed in school. The time commitment is minimal—the reward is

fulfilling. Please consider attending one of our meetings to see what we are about or to bring

fresh ideas to share.

We all share the same mission to provide “Excellence in our schools.” We look forward to

working with you this year!

With gratitude,

Sue Wingert

President, MLEF
